Stage set for another Indian railway budget

With passenger fares unlikely to be hiked, Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi will present his maiden railway budget for 2012-13 Wednesday amid concerns over the financial health of the world's second largest network.

A cash strapped Indian Railways, which runs 10,500 trains and ferries 22 million passengers daily over 64,000 km of track, is looking at an earnings shortfall of Rs.7,000 crore.

Guwahati, March 12: Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi today spared the business class any fresh taxes as “stimuli” to beat the global economic slowdown and check price rise but continued to shower sops on the aam aadmi ostensibly with an eye on the panchayat elections slated for early next year.

This was the message that emanated from the 93-page budget proposals for 2012-13 presented by Gogoi in the Assembly, his 12th straight regular budget since assuming charge in May 2001.

Tata Motors unveils the Megapixel

Tata Megapixel is a new four-seater city-smart global range extended electric vehicle (REEV) concept for the performance-seeking and environment-conscious motorist anywhere in the world.

At the ongoing Geneva Motor Show, Ratan Tata and his successor to the Tata empire, Cyrus Mistry, took the wraps off Tata Motors' latest concept car, the Megapixel, which showcases the company's plans to enter the European market in a big way.

The Megapixel offers a range of up to 900 km (with a single tank of fuel), path-breaking CO2 emission of just 22 gm / km and fuel economy of 100 km / litre (under battery only power) for the performance-seeking and environment-conscious motorist anywhere in the world.

Mercedes rolls out ‘invisible’ car


When Mercedes wanted to promote its new fuel cell vehicle, instead of placing it squarely in front of everyone in the world, the company decided to make the car invisible.

In this clever publicity stunt, Mercedes wanted to emphasize that its F-Cell vehicle has no emissions, making it virtually invisible to the environment. The clever dudes did it by placing a mat of LEDs across one side of the vehicle and mounting a video-shooting Canon 5D Mark II digital SLR camera on the other side.

Hindu Festival Of Holi 2012

Holi is a festival that is usually celebrated right after winters. It is celebrated in the month of March-April. The dates vary every year due to the fact that the Hindu calendar is based on solar cycles. This is a colorful festival celebrated with much joy and fervor all over northern India. The most famous Holi is played in Vrindavan-Mathura regions of the state of Uttar Pradesh.

Holi is a religious spring festival celebrated by Hindus. Holi is also known as festival of Colours. It is primarily observed in India, Nepal, Pakistan,and countries with large Indic diaspora populations following Hinduism, such as Suriname, Malaysia, Guyana, South Africa, Trinidad, United Kingdom, United States, Mauritius, and Fiji. In some states of India such as West Bengal and Orissa, it is known as Dolyatra, or Basanta-Utsav.

Ram Gopal Varma admits he approached Indian Canadian porn star Sunny Leone for an item song in Department, but things didn't work out and the song went to Nathalia Kaur. The filmmaker is in awe of the Brazilian model of Indian descent.

"I never ever hid the fact that I am a devotee of a woman's beauty. But not only in my entire career, but never even ever since I have consciously come of a mental and a physical age to perceive and admire the beauty of a woman, have I seen a woman more beautiful than Nathalia," he said.

Ferrari unveils its fastest car ever


The fastest Ferrari ever was unveiled today – with a blistering price to match.

The new Ferrari F12 Berlinetta  has a top speed of 212miles per hour but it’s the rocket like acceleration which is drawing gasps ahead of its official launch at next week’s Geneva Motor Show when it goes on sale.

The scintillating two-seater roars from rest to 62mph in just  3.1 seconds – shaving 0.6 seconds off the car it replaces, the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano. And the Italian supercar will hit 124mph  in just 8.5 seconds, compared to 11 seconds for its predecessor.
