Hines Ward announces retirement

A four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver, announced his retirement Tuesday after 14 seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Ward, 36, owns Steelers' records with 1,000 receptions, 12,083 receiving yards and 85 receiving touchdowns. The 1,000 catches represent the eighth-best all-time total in the NFL.

He was a third-round pick by Pittsburgh in the 1998 draft and spent his entire career with the Steelers. The team released him last month.

Apple sells 3 mn new iPads since launch

It's taken just three days for Apple to sell 3 million of its new iPads. The new tablet launched on Friday March 16.

"The new iPad is a blockbuster with three million sold―the strongest iPad launch yet," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of worldwide marketing.

The new iPad features am ultra-high res Retina display, the new quadcore A5X chip, a 5 megapixel iSight camera, 1080p HD video, 10-hour battery life and 4G LTE networks in the US and Canada.

Explosions across Iraq kill at least 43

More than 30 bombs struck cities and towns across Iraq on Tuesday, killing at least 43 people and wounding about 250, despite a massive security clampdown ahead of next week's Arab League summit in Baghdad.

It was Iraq's bloodiest day in nearly a month, and the scale of the coordinated explosions in more than a dozen cities showed an apparent determination by insurgents to prove that the government cannot keep the country safe ahead of the summit.

Apple fans snap up new iPad

The new iPad went on sale on Friday with Apple fans lining up from Sydney to San Francisco to snap up the latest model of the hot-selling tablet computer.

Buyers in Asia, Europe and the United States praised the eye-poppingly sharp display on the new iPad but a device which is otherwise short on new technology failed to bring out the crowds seen at previous Apple product launches.

A queue of about 300 people wrapped around a corner of the Apple store in downtown San Francisco while close to 1,000 people lined up outside Apple's futuristic flagship location in Manhattan.

Tax exemption limit raised to Rs 2 lakh

Presenting the union budget for 2012-13 in the Lok Sabha, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said the upper limit for the 20 percent tax slab would be increased to Rs.10 lakh.

The Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee announced raising the tax exemption limit from the curent level of Rs 1.8 lakh to Rs 2 lakh. For income upto Rs 2 lakh, the tax deduction will now be nill. For those with an income between Rs 2-5 lakh the tax deduction would be 10%.

Ash - Abhi name their baby

After a long wait of four months, , Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan’s daughter has finally been named.

According to reports in a leading newspaper the Bachchans have decided to name their bundle of joy - Aaradhya Bachchan

"We’ve got a name, and I’ll announce it very soon, but in terms of releasing a photograph you know I... if people see her in everyday life that’s fine by me, but I just think releasing the photograph is a very pompous thing to do. We don’t believe in any ceremony in terms of naamkaran,” Abhishek had said.

Nissan unveils Batman-like race car

Nissan will power a revolutionary DeltaWing car that will enter this year's Le Mans 24 Hours endurance race.

The V-shaped car, which has already been dubbed the "Batmobile" by enthusiast websites, will not be classified at Le Mans, taking the number 0 with a place in the pitlane reserved for experimental cars because it does not conform to existing regulations.
