IPL auction 2012

The first auction for IPL 2012 is going to be held on 4th February 2012. 9 teams will be participating in the 5th season of IPL. As Kochi Tuskers have been scrapped from this edition, the former Kochi players will be the major attraction of IPL 2012.

England spinner Graeme Swann and Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene head a star cast of cricketers who will be auctioned on Saturday to join the Indian Premier League.

As many as 144 foreign and Indian players have thrown their hat in the ring in an auction restricted to players not already aligned to any team in the money-spinning Twenty20 league.

Australian fast bowlers Mitchell Johnson and Peter Siddle, and England duo James Anderson and Ian Bell, are among the other leading players going under the hammer in Bangalore.

The standings at 1.30 pm:

R Vinay Kumar joins the IPL millionaires club. Formerly with Kochi, he will now go to Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Sunil Narine of Trinidad and Tobago was the big surprise pick of the bowlers' segment of the IPL auction. Deccan Chargers, Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals got into a bidding war for the off-spinner, before Mumbai sealed the deal with a USD 700,000 bid.
